The Technology – Part 1
The process currently used by GSI is referred to as “blow molding” or “stretch blow molding”, in which PET Plastic [Polyethylene terephthalate] is carefully weighed and formed prepared for reformation into a particular size bottle. The plastic is heated to the point of balance between solid and liquid state.
Blow Molding
PET Plastic containers are ‘crystal clear’ and the standard in the industry for premium packaging and superior chemical resistance.
The Technology – Part 2
Once inserted into appropriate form, the PET plastic is then ‘stretched’ with the force of first warm air – to expand it to the confines of the form, and then cooled back to room temperature with a second release of cool air. Once cooled, the form is split, the bottle removed and the container is ready for filling onsite.
Production Capacity
By the end of 2021, GSI will have expanded it current PET bottle product capacity so as to be able to produce containers from 2oz all the way to 2 liters (67.9 ounces).
In Autumn of 2021, GSI will add a second bottle production method – injection molding.
The Benefits to You and the Environment
The cost of finished goods is a balance of product vs packaging. What is in the bottle is rarely of greater cost to produce as the container in which it is packaged. For most manufacturers, the incoming freight for empty containers is nearly as high as the cost of the bottle. This means that GSI can save you, the customer substantially – and the elimination of incoming freight means the reduction in CO2 emissions.
